Political art in Folkestone. The artist Richard Woods placed six one-third size homes in unexpected places around Folkestone. They are identical except for the colours. He was pointing out that the media and construction industries constantly refer to the "housing crisis" which increases the value of the property and the land. Meanwhile the booming market for holiday homes is evidence that it is really a crisis of economic inequality. Many people have two homes and many can not afford one. Unfortunately I wasn't in Folkestone long enough to locate all six houses. Have a great weekend :):)

stroppirob: This problem has to be addressed sooner rather than later. Each year home ownership is placed out of reach of more and more people while the landlords become richer and richer with the rents they charge that are way above the living wage.😣

hogman72664: Thank you Rob, in this area a lot of those in social housing shouldn't have been.. It's become a financial shortcut to buy property cheaply then they rent them out at extortionate prices. I'm all for social housing and supporting those less fortunate but it was never the idea to sell these vital homes off. Now there is a shortage of houses for the needy while others benefit at the expense of others. A serious issue highlighted through art. Cheers.

hogman72664: I agree totally Maria, it is almost an obligation of the artist to make people think, to stir the emotions. It doesn't have to be political but it should make you see something, to open your eyes to the magic around you. Creativity is a gift that shouldn't be squandered or taken for granted. Thank you my art loving friend :):)
