An example of “blobitecture” in Birmingham. This is the Selfridges Building, part of the Bullring Shopping Centre. It was completed in 2003 at a reported cost of £60 million. I wasn’t sure about the design at first but the more I see it, the more it has grown on me, and it does make for some interesting photography! 😊 #smfc #futuristic #valuable #iphone6plus #architecture mono

hogman72664: Wowsers, love it so much. What the heck was going through your mind "not sure about it" ? This is brilliant, I hope Spealsy sees this at some point. Awesome work my friend, love it, love it :):)

charmychelle: Haha 😆 I meant to say that I wasn’t sure about the overall design, I’m pretty happy with this shot! I’ve altered the caption accordingly! 😉 Will write more soon, I’m preparing another photo! xxx

hogman72664: Well did I mention that I love this a lot? x

charmychelle: Err sorry, I didn’t quite catch that, would you say it again please! 😜😉 Anyhow, I will expand; I have mixed opinions about modern architecture, I admire some but not so much others and I wasn’t impressed with this one right away. I just thought it looked strange and out of place... But you must understand that these were the thoughts of 20-year old me, a lot of time has passed, my mind has matured and I’ve grown to accept such things...😊 I actually quite like it now. This was taken last weekend, I was walking all around the building taking different shots with my phone, both close-up and far out...but this shot impressed me the most. It was a toss up of whether I would share it in colour or mono, perhaps you’ll also see the colour version one day...In any case I’m glad you like it, and I agree that Spealsy would like it too! Thank you so much! xxx 😃❤️🙌

hogman72664: Is Noel Edmunds House party still going on, is Mr. Blobby still a tw#t? Why hasn't everybody gone home? And I love this more with every viewing. 😎

charmychelle: 1) I don’t think so... 🤷‍♀️ 2) Yes, highly likely... I can’t believe that he’s invented blobitecture and has actually been successful with it! 😂😂😂 3) I’ve no idea.. 😅 And glad you do! 😉 xxx

charmychelle: Blobby Blobby BLOBBY!!!!! 🤪🤪🤪

charmychelle: Oops, don’t know what happened there...I seem to have been infected by some sort of Blobby virus... 😱😱😱😅 x

hogman72664: Could be worse, you could have gone down with a bad case of Crinkly Bottom. I am not going to say that love this pic again but I am developing an infatuation with it. Keep returning to see if it is as amazing as I remember it being a few hours earlier. :-)

charmychelle: O Lordy you’re right, that is worse! 😖 But no, it’s deffo not that! If this image looks more amazing with every look, then it tells me that I’ve done a very good job! 😄👍 Have a great evening! xxx

jerry0522: It's a fantastic design and I absolutely love what you have done with it!!! I always thought you were a great photographer but it seems I'm seeing you take another step lately my friend :):)

Posted: 2017 Nov 9 1:28:28 PM

charmychelle: Oh wow Jerry, that is a huge compliment and for that I thank you! 😃🙏✨ In terms of photography I feel that I’ve grown so much, particularly in the last few weeks alone. I guess that it’s mostly down to the new lens, but other shots like this one were taken from my phone! ☺️ I’ve also had more practice while there have been delays taking place with these health checkups in my family... Nature has always been my favourite subject but every so often I like to try something new and I do think that architecture makes a fascinating subject. I like traditional and some modern architecture, but at the time Selfridges was opened I wasn’t impressed with it; I just thought it looked odd and out of place with everything around it. But over the years I have grown to like it and realize that it is an integral part of the city.

charmychelle: Last weekend I made sure that I had enough time to walk all around it and get the best possible variety of shots. I would love to master all aspects and for that you are one of my greatest influences. You say you prefer landscape but you’ve mastered other areas, in particular portraiture. 😉 That’s an area I haven’t explored much of yet, except self-portraiture, but that’s something different! ☺️ Thank you so much for your encouraging feedback, I really appreciate it, and I’m delighted you like the image! 🙌😎🙌 By the way, my response was too long and I was forced to break it up! 😅

lowgonlowpaw: You're right it is interesting, at first I couldn't make out what it was until I read your description, a very unusual design.

charmychelle: It’s the first that I’ve heard of Blobitecture (found on Wikipedia) and tbh I still can’t take that word seriously, it just sounds like it describes buildings that were designed by Mr Blobby! 😂😂😂 Thanks!

defimage2222: Superb mono...,great composition and dramatic atmospheric look about this shot :)

Posted: 2017 Nov 9 4:16:48 PM

charmychelle: Thank you Dee, it was a toss up of whether I would share the mono or the colour version and I chose what I felt was the strongest. ☺️ I had walked all around the building taking different types of shots on my phone, both close-up and further out. This was the one that seemed to work best. So glad you like it! Have a super weekend my friend! xxx

demol: Beautiful place. I was there and in the front is a old church

Posted: 2017 Nov 9 4:59:05 PM

charmychelle: Yes you’re right, St. Martin in the Bull Ring. ☺️ I do think it’s beautiful and unique and I made sure to get a good variety of shots. Some of them did include the church but I wasn’t as happy with the result. This was the standout image of the lot. Thank you! ☺️

charmychelle: Thanks Stef, it definitely did raise a few eyebrows at the time it opened! 🤨 Have a great weekend!

stroppirob: OMG it's a new art direction BLOBBYISM. Of course it only looks good in black and white or pink/purple or when Noel Edmunds is caged, tied up and blindfolded in the darkest basement you can find on three times the working wage 😂😂😂

Posted: 2017 Nov 9 11:50:26 PM

charmychelle: 😂😂😂😂😂 You win Fhotoroom with that comment!!! 👍👍👍🙌🙌🙌👌👌👌 And no, I can’t take blobitecture seriously either! 😅 Thanks a lot! 😉😉

puma.luca: Una costruzione non molto economica, ma molto particolare e futuristica. Bellissima inquadratura in b/w!!!!😊

Posted: 2017 Nov 10 12:58:41 AM

charmychelle: Grazie mille Luca!

Grazie ancora e buona serata a te! ✨💖✨

ttomzz: ...in this case Blobitecture workx wonders for the photographer!!! Very nicely done, M'lady...😎

charmychelle: It was the first that I’ve heard of such a word to be honest, I wanted to refresh myself on the history of this building and that was how it was described... I had walked all around it taking a variety of shots, both close-up and further out, and this turned out to be the best one. It did raise a few eyebrows during the time it was opened but it has proved integral to the redevelopment of the city of Birmingham. Thank you so much my friend! 😊🙌
